State Islamic University of Mataram (UIN Mataram) is a leading Islamic higher education institution located in the city of Mataram, on the island of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. It aims to integrate Islamic values with modern science, technology, and humanities to contribute to the development of a more inclusive, knowledgeable, and spiritual society.
The university evolved from its initial status as IAIN (Institut Agama Islam Negeri) Mataram, and was officially transformed into a State Islamic University in 2017, allowing it to broaden its academic reach beyond Islamic studies into general sciences and interdisciplinary fields.
